Town Committee meetings are scheduled on the second Thursday of every month and are held at the Greenwood Community Center at 231 Maple Road. Meetings begin at 7:30pm. All interested residents are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to come early for refreshments and conversation. We hope to see you there!

Past Meetings
The LRTC conducted a member panel discussion on the LRTC Past, Present and Future at its April meeting. The panel members included new and veteran members, and the comments were enlightening for all members to reflect upon.

Peter Ellis, entrepreneur and successful business owner, spoke at the LRTC's March meeting. Mr. Ellis discussed the challenges of starting and running a business in Massachusetts, as well as his commitment to the Springfield area and belief in the city's potential for a positive future.

Abraham Lincoln dropped in to the LRTC's February meeting to enjoy some cake commemorating his birthday. We had a good meeting. President Lincoln recited the Gettysburg Address and helped focus our attention on the the difficult challenges facing our town. Click to view a picture of Abe!

Delegates to the Republican State Convention were selected at the LRTC's January meeting. A complete list of delegates will be posted here soon. The Convention will be held in Boston on April 17th.

Cliff Hedges was the featured speaker at the LRTC's November meeting. Mr. Hedges, Longmeadow resident and FBI special agent, shared and engaging presentation of his work investigating motorcycle gangs.

Dr. Jay Fleitman was the featured speaker at the LRTC's October meeting. Jay is a candidate for representative for the 2nd Congressional District and will be opposing Richard Neal in 2010. You can visit Jay's website at www.jayfleitman.com.

Larry Starr was the speaker at the LRTC's September kick-off meeting. Larry's topic was "Pending Federal Health Care Reform." The well-behaved crowd in attendance (not a "mob") peppered Larry with questions and left with a pretty good understanding of the status of the proposed health care legislation as of the date of the meeting. Larry did an excellent job. There was a general consensus that the "public option" was not a good idea, but that several other changes such as health insurance portability, sale of health insurance across state lines and tort reform were worthy of support.
